Location

Isle of Gigha is located in the west of Scotland, just over a 2,5-hour car drive from Glasgow. Halfway out on Mull of Kintyre you take a small ferry from Tayinloan to Gigha, (about 20 min), and then you’ve arrived at the Island!

The entire size of Isle of Gigha is 11 x 2km, (which means everything’s close by).

The Vikings called Gigha "The good island" and there are still numerous remains from their settlements here, some up to 400-years old. Today, most of Isle of Gigha is owned by a foundation that develops and cares for the island. It's inhabited by a little over 160 people.

Achamore Gardens

Gigha has a pleasant microclimate that provides the garden with fantastic floral splendor. Colonel James Horlick laid out the present garden in 1944.

Achamore Gardens consists of 200,000 square meters of incredible vegetation, streams, romantic paths and a waterlily pond. It is said that if you visit Gigha once, you will come back time and time again.

Local Partners

We collaborate with many of the island's local businesses such as ‘’Gigha Hotel’’, ‘’The Boat House’’, local shops, rental of bicycles and canoes and more. On the island, there are also local producers of oysters, halibut, salmon, dairy products, skincare and more. There is also a small golf course and an airstrip as well as a protected bay with buoys and pontoon jetties for leisure boats.
